You don’t have to settle for simply reading the Bible without really understanding how it all fits together.

The Biblical & Theological Foundations Certificate (BTF) is a two-semester experience designed to help you develop a rooted understanding of Scripture, core Christian doctrine, and the bigger story of what God is doing in the world.

You’ll move from reading the Bible → to understanding the Bible → to living the Bible, building a framework that shapes not only what you believe, but how you live, lead, and follow Jesus.

Go Deeper Than the Sunday Sermon

Maybe you’ve followed Jesus for years. Maybe you’re just beginning to take your faith more seriously. Either way, there comes a point when you want more than isolated Bible verses and secondhand answers.

You want to know:

  • How does the Bible fit together?

  • How should I actually study Scripture?

  • What do Christians believe about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, salvation, the Church, heaven, and eternity?

  • How does theology change the way I live right now?

BTF gives you a structured environment to wrestle with those questions alongside experienced teachers and other people who want to grow.

This isn’t about knowing more just so you can know more. It’s about developing a biblical foundation strong enough to build your life on.

What You’ll Learn

Over 20 weeks, you’ll build a stronger understanding of both the story of Scripture and the beliefs that shape the Christian faith.

Fall: Understanding the Story of Scripture

The first semester walks through the Bible’s larger story while also teaching you how to read and apply Scripture well.

You’ll explore:

  • How to read and study the Bible

  • Creation and the Fall

  • The Patriarchs

  • The Exodus

  • The Kingdom era

  • Exile

  • The life of Jesus

  • The death and resurrection of Jesus

  • The early Church

  • Revelation and the victory of Christ

Along the way, you won’t just study what happened. You’ll practice connecting what you learn to your own relationships, struggles, leadership, faith, and everyday life.

Spring: Building a Theological Foundation

The second semester turns toward the core beliefs of Christianity and why they matter.

You’ll explore:

  • What theology is and how we build it well

  • God the Father and the Trinity

  • Jesus and the Holy Spirit

  • Sin and what it does to us

  • Salvation and what Jesus has done for us

  • Living faithfully in the “in-between”

  • Heaven and hell

  • The Church

  • Living on mission

The goal isn’t simply to be able to define theological terms. It’s to understand what you believe, see how Scripture supports it, and recognize how those beliefs shape everyday life.

Learning That Moves Into Real Life

FLI is designed for adult learners, which means you’ll do more than sit through lectures.

Throughout BTF, you’ll reflect on what you’re learning, apply Scripture to real situations, participate in discussion, and connect biblical truth to your own spiritual growth.

You’ll also develop a personal Biblical and Theological Foundations Statement that brings the experience together—clarifying what you believe, the biblical foundation behind those beliefs, where you’ve grown, and how you want to continue living them out.

What You’ll Walk Away With

By the end of the certificate, you’ll have a stronger framework for:

  • Reading and understanding Scripture

  • Connecting individual passages to the larger biblical story

  • Thinking clearly about core Christian beliefs

  • Evaluating what you believe through Scripture

  • Applying biblical truth to real decisions and circumstances

  • Talking about your faith with greater clarity and confidence

  • Continuing to grow long after the certificate is finished

You’re building a foundation for a lifetime of following Jesus.

Program Details

Length: 20 weeks across two semesters
Format: In person
Location: Lafayette, Colorado
Class Night: Tuesdays
Class Times: 6:00 PM or 7:15 PM, based on assigned section
Tuition: $1,000 total / $500 per semester
Application Fee: $50 non-refundable application fee

Classes run during the Fall and Spring semesters and include weekend intensives.
